Summer is Coming to an End

The last couple of weeks of summer have been spent working on our pop up camper and surf fishing off the beach with one of our Jeeps.

Here’s an early morning shot.

We love the beach this early. We’re usually the only ones around as far as the eye can see.

The boys had some luck fishing. They caught a few skate, baby sharks, spot, speckled trout and whiting. While the boys are fishing I love to take pictures to remember the day.  We don’t have a lot of days left like this with our son who starts his senior year of high school on Monday.

Here are more pictures from our most recent trip.

The pop up camper also got a much needed deep cleaning recently. As with most things, I searched YouTube videos to see what others have used to clean mildew from the fabric & vinyl walls pop up campers are known for. I came across this gentleman’s post. He used a product called Starbrite Mildew Stain Remover and it was amazing. Here are some before and after pictures. After removing all the interior mildew from the walls and ceiling we cleaned the outside as well. Once all the mildew was removed, I gave the rest of the camper interior a thorough wipe down with Simple Green. The camper looks (and smells) amazing! We’re busy now outfitting it with new bedding and supplies. I’m working on organizing all the storage compartments. Make sure to check out my TikTok account where I post videos from the camper clean up and some of my favorite organizing hacks.

I can’t wait until our first trip!

The Pop-up Project

Ahhhhh! After some back and forth, a 4 hour (round trip) drive and some tough negotiations, we have a pop-up camper!!

It was gently used so it needs some minor repair and major cleaning.

The weather here is hot, muggy and unpredictably stormy so we’ll need to wait a couple of weeks for things to settle down weather-wise so we can open it up and give it a good scrubbing.

We have big plans for the camper not only for adventure but some remodeling as well.

We hope you’ll follow along (and offer some pointers if I’m being honest) as we take on this project and plan our next adventure.

Welcome!

Welcome to our blog, life and adventures!  We are 9-5’ers, Jeep enthusiasts, DIY’ers and have the travel itch - BAD!  We’re Jessica and Jamie K and we’ve been married for 26 years.  Jamie is an avid fisherman and I have a love for photography.  We have a son who’s about to make us empty-nesters and we’ve been wondering what’s next.

Our Jeeps - we have 3.  My husband and I have Jeep Wrangler JK’s (a 2017 JKU and a 2016 JKR respectively).  Our son has a 1995 Jeep Wrangler YJ.  All 3 are at some level of modification and they are our dailies, the bane of our existence and the loves of our lives.  If you own a Jeep, you know what I mean.

East Coast living has us enjoying driving our Jeeps on the nearby beaches of the Delaware and Maryland shores. We also lived briefly on the North Carolina Outer Banks so we are definitely beach people.  That doesn’t mean we don’t also love the mountains and occasionally visit “the big city”.  We’ve travelled all over the east and west coasts and have also visited Puerto Rico and England.  Before our son was born we lived in Virginia, the Mississippi Gulf Coast and Georgia before settling down 11 years ago in Delaware.

When we’re not working, we’re at our son’s soccer games, repairing or upgrading one or more of the Jeeps, out on or near the water or working on our 1960’s split-level home.

We have many more adventures and projects to come so we hope you’ll come away with us!
